Online Learning is now available at Canley Vale Public School
We are certainly living in unprecedented times but rest assured that we are working as hard as we can to support you and your child with their education.
Today Ms Berejiklian (NSW Premier) recommended all students stay at home from tomorrow (Tuesday 23 March 2020) until further notice. The school will, however, remain open for students whose parents are actively involved in providing essential services for our community (such as health workers, police personnel, supermarket workers, pharmacists etc.) and students who are unable to be cared for at home. The Premier also mentioned that all schools would deliver one mode of learning during this time - online learning.
At CVPS we have been working to put together a rigorous online learning model for our students. Today students will be taking home two notes and a laminated sheet with online subscription passwords and links. Also on this sheet will be the contact details for your classroom teacher (email address). This is just the first phase of our online learning model.
The school is also launching its Online Learning website www.canleyvaleps.weebly.com
The learning that is outlined on this website is what all students will be working on, whether online or here at school. Regular teaching or new learning will not be occurring at school from tomorrow until further notice, only supervision of students completing the online work that is being provided to all students. It is expected that the vast majority of students will not be at school.
If your child is not at school today, you can see your classroom teacher this afternoon to collect the letters and laminated sheet or we will be explaining steps to pick up these resources from school tomorrow.
However, we fully understand that some parents DO NOT have access to the Internet and/or devices at home. We are currently working on developing work booklets for students that do not have access to online learning. These resources will be ready to be picked up tomorrow. We will explain the process for collecting these booklets soon.
If you are unable to engage with online learning but have access to the internet/mobile data and just need a device, I encourage you to email me directly to inform me of this. We are looking into the possibility of loaning some school devices for families who have Internet access but no device. Please email me on bradley.lanham@det.nsw.edu.au if you would be interested in borrowing a school device.
The two notes that are going home today will be uploaded via Facebook and Skoolbag so, if your child is not at school today, you can still access this information.
Please understand that teachers will only be responding to online questions during online learning times between the hours of 9:00am - 11:00am, 11:30 - 1:00pm and 2:00pm - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Please be patient with our staff at Canley Vale PS as we roll out our online learning model over the next few days.
Sincerely,
Brad Lanham
Acting Principal
