Community involvement
At our school, we believe that strong community involvement helps create a happy and supportive learning environment for all students. We welcome families, local groups, and community members to be active partners in school activities, events, and decision-making. Working together with our community helps us share ideas, support our students’ learning, and build a school where everyone feels connected and valued. Our school offers weekly programs through our School as Community Centres (SACC) and through the schools Community Liasion Officers.
School as Community Centres (SACC)
The Schools as Community Centres (SaCC) program is an initiative developed and funded by the Department of Education to support and enhance the early learning and wellbeing of children from birth to 8 years old, and prepare them for their transition to school.
At Canley Vale Public School, the SaCC program is partnered with service agencies and community organisations to deliver high quality and supported playgroups that foster early childhood learning in areas including, but not limited to:
- Early language acquisition
- Cognitive development
- Sense of self and security
- Emotional regulation
- Socialisation through positive intervention.
As well, the CVPS SaCC program offers a variety of parenting programs each year to help parents and caregivers gain a deeper understanding of their children’s development, educate them on effective communication strategies, and equip them with practical parenting tools. These programs include:
- 1 2 3 Magic and Emotional Coaching
- Tuning in to Kids
- Tuning in to Teens
- Circle of Security
- Information Sessions, such as Oral Health, Services Australia, and Community Health
- Excursions
- Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP)
- Knitting and Crocheting Workshop
- English and Digital Skills Course
- Parents Workshops
Each day the SACC room provides breakfast (breakfast club) for students, giving all students the opportunity to have breakfast preparing for their day of learning.
