High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE)

At Canley Vale Public School, all students, regardless of background or personal circumstances, have access to learning programs that meet their learning needs and support to aspire to, and achieve, personal excellence. High Potential and Gifted students can come from a diverse range of backgrounds.

High potential

High potential students are those whose potential exceeds that of students of the same age in one or more domains. Their potential may be assessed as beyond the average range across any domain. They may benefit from an enriched or extended curriculum and learning opportunities beyond the typical level of students the same age.

Gifted

Gifted students’ potential significantly exceeds that of students of the same age in one or more domains. They may benefit from an extended curriculum and learning opportunities significantly beyond the typical level of students the same age.

Highly gifted

Gifted students’ potential significantly exceeds that of students of the same age in one or more domains. They may benefit from an extended curriculum and learning opportunities significantly beyond the typical level of students the same age.

Our High Potential and Gifted Education Opportunities

Our students engage with  HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

Our talented artist, Gus, won first place prize in the artist competition.

Our chess team practices extremely hard all year during chess club at recess.
